About the Role
We are looking for a patient, compassionate, and energetic Assistant Teacher to support our Special Needs Educator in providing a safe, structured, and nurturing learning environment for children with diverse needs.
This role is perfect for someone who enjoys working with children, is eager to learn, and wants to grow in the field of special needs education.
Key Responsibilities
1. Classroom Support
-
Assist the Special Needs Educator in delivering lessons, activities, and individualized educational plans (IEPs).

Support children during play, learning activities, and structured routines.

Help manage classroom behaviour using positive and consistent strategies.
2. Child Engagement & Care
-
Provide one-on-one or small-group support to children who require additional guidance.

Model appropriate communication, social skills, and behaviour.
-
Ensure children’s safety and well-being at all times.
3. Learning Materials & Environment
-
Prepare teaching materials, visual supports, and learning tools.

Help maintain a clean, organized, and sensory-friendly classroom.

Set up activity stations and assist in transitions.
4. Observation & Reporting
-
Observe the child’s progress, challenges, and strengths.

Share observations with the Special Needs Educator to inform lesson planning.

Assist with simple documentation related to classroom activities.
5. Team Collaboration
-
Work closely with the Special Needs Educator, therapists, and other team members.
-
Participate in team meetings, training sessions, or workshops as needed.

Follow guidance, feedback, and strategies provided by the team.
6. Professional Conduct

Maintain confidentiality regarding all children and families.

Demonstrate a warm, respectful, and supportive attitude.

Requirements
- Minimum Diploma in Special Needs Education, Psychology, Early Childhood Education or related field or SPM certificate with at least 2 years experience in child care/ child education.

Genuine interest in working with children with special needs.

Patience, empathy, and a positive attitude.

Ability to follow instructions and work collaboratively.

Good communication skills.

Responsible, punctual, and committed to learning.

Experience in early childhood education, special needs support, or childcare.

Basic knowledge of developmental delays or learning differences.

Ability to create engaging activities or visuals.
-
First aid or early childhood qualifications is an added advantage.
- Proficient in Malay and English language. Proficiency in Mandarin is an added advantage.
