Special Needs Educator

About the Role

We are looking for a dedicated, compassionate, and motivated Special Needs Educator to join our Early Intervention team. This role involves working closely with children with developmental delays or special needs, supporting their learning, communication, social skills, behaviour, and daily living skills in a structured and nurturing environment.
The ideal candidate has a genuine passion for helping children thrive, strong teamwork skills, and a commitment to professional growth.


Key Responsibilities

1. Teaching & Intervention

  • Conduct individualized and group-based early intervention sessions.

  • Create and implement lesson plans tailored to each child’s learning goals.

  • Support development in communication, social skills, cognition, play, behaviour, motor and self-help skills.

  • Use evidence-based strategies to facilitate learning and engagement.

2. Child Progress & Documentation

  • Assess and monitor children’s progress using standardized tools and observational data.

  • Update Individualized Education Plans (IEPs) and keep accurate session notes.

  • Prepare reports for parents, therapists, and multidisciplinary team discussions.

3. Collaboration & Teamwork

  • Work closely with speech therapists, occupational therapists, and psychologists to ensure consistent and holistic intervention.

  • Participate in team meetings, case discussions, and training sessions.

  • Support centre-wide programmes, events, and parent engagement activities.

4. Family Support & Communication

  • Provide feedback to parents on their child’s progress.

  • Share simple home strategies to encourage generalization of skills.

  • Communicate professionally, respectfully, and with empathy at all times.

5. Behaviour Support

  • Implement positive behaviour strategies based on team recommendations.

  • Maintain a safe, structured, and supportive classroom environment.


Requirements

  • Minimum Diploma or Degree in Early Childhood Education, Psychology, Special Education, or related field.

  • Passion for working with children with special needs.

  • Strong communication and teamwork skills.

  • Patience, empathy, and adaptability in a fast-paced environment.

  • Creativity in creating materials.

  • Experience in Early Intervention or special needs education.

  • Familiarity with teaching strategies, sensory integration, or developmental frameworks.

  • Ability to create engaging lesson materials.

  • Good written and spoken abilities in English and Malay language. Proficiency in Mandarin is an added advantage.
