About Hanna

Upon the completion of her undergraduate study, Hanna worked with children with special needs who required academic and/or behavioural support using behavioural modification techniques. This experience further sparked her interest in the mental health field and inspired her to take on a role as an assistant clinical psychologist at Hospital Kuala Lumpur (HKL) where she assisted in managing the day-to-day running of the psychology clinic and organised various events related to mental health. As part of the postgraduate clinical training, Hanna worked as a trainee at Hospital Bahagia Ulu Kinta (HBUK) and Hospital Universiti Sains Malaysia (HUSM) where she was exposed to a variety of cases ranging from psychiatric to pediatric and forensic.

Hanna is experienced in conducting comprehensive psychological assessments for clients with personality disorders and various neurodevelopmental disorders such as intellectual disability, autism spectrum disorder (ASD), attention-deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) and specific learning disorder. With regards to therapy, she has worked with people with psychological difficulties such as anxiety, depression, obsessive compulsive disorder (OCD), personality disorders and oppositional defiant disorder (ODD). Her main therapeutic orientation is cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT) which focuses on identifying and restructuring maladaptive thoughts and behaviours. Additionally, she also incorporates other therapeutic approaches and techniques namely dialectical behaviour therapy (DBT), relaxation techniques, parent management training, assertiveness training and anger management therapy to fit the specific needs of the clients.

As a mental health practitioner, her work focuses on managing the symptoms experienced by clients to help them return to the highest level of function and independence, while improving their overall quality of life. However, she is aware that starting therapy can be incredibly difficult and confusing. People often say that acceptance is the first step towards change, growth, and healing. While this may be true, Hanna strongly believes that self-understanding always precedes self-acceptance. By compassionately understanding the root cause of their distress, she believes that her clients will eventually move towards greater self-acceptance.
